CAL-WEST BOER CONNECTION would like to thank all in attendance at our 2007 sale on Saturday, September 22nd, and also to those who placed phone bids during the day. While the rain hit us pretty hard early on, everyone was kept dry inside the barn! The rain settled all of the dust and the rest of the day the sun was out! It was very nice to see so many people come to the Sundance Ranch to view the goats, hear Dr. Andrea Mongini’s presentation and enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by Mike & Maureen Reis of Rocking 4R Boer Goats. Thank you too to Bar-Ale and Western Milling who were on hand to discuss their feed products, and donated feed, hats and shirts for our raffle. The sale went well with 79 lots selling and all going home with happy buyers (even in the backseat of one car!!...where was the camera when we needed it!) We would like to thank Robert Gonsalves/Bobby Bloyed of Leyland Farms in Selma, CA for purchasing our high selling doe SRR1 Morgan B9 for $4,500.00. They were also the high volume buyer and took home 9 quality goats. Leyland Farms will be in the Cal-West Boer Connection Sale next year consigning two goats, as will Brian & Alicia Noftz, who were our high volume buyers last year.
We are proud to be offering a Cal-West Boer Connection Scholarship, those of us involved in Cal-West Boer Connection have been strong supporters of the Youth involved in the Meat Goat industry. We are starting a scholarship fund and will award a $500.00 Scholarship in 2008. All of the criteria will be on our websites by the end of the year, and applications will be due by May 31, 2008. If you were unable to attend our sale, just to let you know our overall average was $986.08. The bucks average was $1,279.55 (11 head) and the does (68) $898.94 average. A special thanks once again to all of the buyers at the sale! There were many bidders who didn’t take animals home, and we are sorry about that, but note that we will be back again next September, and we invite you to attend once again!
